Svechnikov

Created by: CaptainFlynnt
Team: 2018-19 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 5, 2018
Published: Apr. 5, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If Montreal drafts 2nd, (or 3rd if Svechnikov is still available).

Svechnikov provides the team with a top 6 RW, which is something they need since I'm not overly confident Scherbak will be consistent enough.

Fair enough, I'm not a big hudon fan, small and slow he often cheats to try create offense. McCarron is struggling but he has played better hockey before, going into next year I'd like to have him in case De la rose struggles.. they can both share 4th line C duties. Hudon also has more value around the league I'm sure.

Juulsen is good enough to play with habs for sure.. but I think he would benefit from 1st pairing minutes in the AHL, and lots of power play and penalty kill time. He could develop his offensive game more.

Also if you start Juulsen next season and one of Petry, Weber, or Juulsen get injured, who replaces them? This way if one of Weber, Petry, or Franson get injured, Juulsen can be called up. Having bad depth can derail a season so I think this is the better way to go. Like I said, if Juulsen outplays Franson in training camp then he can stay and Franson might clear waivers too, but I don't see Juulsen being significantly better.

I am all in to giving more chances to young players but if i had to choose between Hudon and McCarron..... i would suggest doing the same with McCaron as you suggested with Juulsen. If Montreal is all in to tanking for the next years to come than Mccaron and Juulsen should be called up and play all season. But with Claude Julien i don’t see that happening any time soon. I would also look into Rychel

The difference between juulsen and McCarron is Juulsen is waiver exempt, McCarron won't be next season. I think somebody in the league would take a chance on a former 1st round pick if he was out on waivers, even if they just want him to fight.
