No way Edmonton makes that trade. One year of pacioretty and some lesser pieces does not equal that package

Even if MB is not a good GM, I think he will allow a potential trade partner to negociate with Max. After playing with terrible C, he could be tempted to play with elite C for the rest of his career. People tend to undervalue him but he has been one of the most productive LW in the entire league on a 4 years period playing with 3rd line C. He has a good trade value even if most people trade him for an average prospect and a 2nd rounder on this site. If he scored 39 goals in MTL, how many could he score with McDavid?

I think they are 2 desperate GMs and after PC traded Hall for Larsson and Eberle for Strome, he is now desperate to add a scoring winger. You could change the 3rd rounder for a 2nd rounder.

Still, it was just a scenario knowing the position (hot seat) these 2 Gms are in.

If Im Montreal, I trade Max for younger players (Car, Stl or Min). But Molson has claimed many times the goal is to make the playoffs next year. They won't rebuild like Tor or Win.

RNH for Pacioretty -- as a hockey trade -- is a pretty square deal, assuming the Pacioretty contract is lined up. You might have to do a little adjusting, but not much. But that means you're saying Klefbom is worth JDLR, Scherbak, a second and a third. Not sure either side thinks that's great.

AZ won't make that trade.

The Carolina deal isn't all that bad, actually, as long as the Canes think Lindgren is the real deal. I don't have a read on Lindgren's status as a prospect. Brook is a solid prospect, but on a team with Fleury, Hanifin and Bean in the system, they aren't aching for another blueliner. Bitten is a wildcard, but more likely a miss than a hit. Byron and Shaw are solid core players. Kuokkanen is rounding into shape, but he's not yet NHL strong. Rask is a good player, though not special.
