MTL turn that down. Initial asking price for Chucky for NJD starts with Mcleod + 1st rd pick. NJ and MTL are tough trading partners imo.

McLeod is unproven and has given the Devils no indication that he is ready to make the jump to the NHL next year. He had a down year this year and will need to spend at least a year in the AHL. Severson would've been top 4 for the Habs this year and Wood would've been Top 9. If McLeod and a 1st gets Chucky, then the Devils should totally do that and use Severson or Wood to help improve their defense

Mcleod + 1st probably isn't enough with what Bergefail is most likely asking for, he'd probably want a roster player as well (maybe add Woods?). MTL doesn't need Severson and he wouldn't be in their top 4 on the right side. Habs already have Weber, Petry, and Juulsen as RD with plenty of RD prospects with good potential (Brook, Fleury, Lernout), unless MTL move Petry, but I doubt it. What MTL needs is Left handed Defensemen, after Mete and maybe Reilly, they have no one who could play top 4 imo (Alzner, Benn, and Schlemko are all bottom pairing guys) and they have no prospect in the pipeline on LD (Valiev, Walford, really nothing special...)

I’d say McLeod, Woods, 1st (top 15 protected) for Chucky makes more sense. I’d agree an unprotected 1st is unfair.

Gallagher is not for sale, end of story. And if he were moved it would be for something you definitely wouldn’t want to give up.

Zacha is worth more than McLeod. He struggled to start the season, but really picked up his play in the 2nd half of the season. The thing is that the Devils need one more top 6 winger, which is going to be available through free agency and trade this summer. There are too many avenues for the Devils to get fleeced on a trade this summer

no thanks. MTL doesn't even need Wood (Habs have an overflow of LWs). Honestly, the only pieces that interests me from NJD (without asking for the obvious *Hischier, Butcher, Hall, etc.*) is Mcleod and Zacha. Any deal for MTL's top players would need one of them and a 1st (lottery protected) just to start the conversation. Anything less and I'm not interested. You have to give something to get something.

Then it would have to be:

McLeod, Bastian and a top-10 protected 1st round pick in 2019 for Galchenyuk

I'd consider that, even more if it was for Pacioretty honestly. But who knows what Bergefail is asking for

I like Pacioretty, and he didn't grow up far from NJ, but he is not guaranteed to play past this season for whoever he's traded to and will be looking for a hefty raise. The Devils would probably do that trade for Pacioretty if it was a sign-and-trade, provided he isn't demanding a contract that would make re-signing Taylor Hall impossible
