Carolina has a lot of youth on Defense, but not enough veterans. Yes, this is partly because North Carolina is the Staal State, but it’s also to give Carolina a veteran with playoff exp on defense to help them get into the playoffs for once, and they have the space for him. They can make a seperate deal to get a younger d-man out if they have too many D-men.

the skinner is the only fair deal while no team will take on staals contract unless they are given some assets to go with it, edmonton deal is possible to happen but nyr are giving up to much for lucic's contract which is kinda horrible so take out the 2018 pick and maybe replace it with a 3rd and it might be worth it.

Yes I agree, but That’s how I was able to get the #9 OVR and a top 4 D-man at good age and cap hit for just Zuc and part of a cap dump.

Given Carolina’s needs, I think they’d prefer Kreider in some sort of a trade.

U can easily replace the 2019 1st and Fast w/Kreider and a 3rd or something in ur version of the trade if u’d like.

It could happen I guess but I think any team that willingly trades for Staal and that ridiculous contract should be fired on the spot. There is literally no justification that makes any sense. leadership? Veteran? etc Get it in free agency at half the price.

Defensive dmen are on the way out. You need to be able to create offense as well as defend in the new NHL. Staal has no offensive ability and is paid like someone who should e able to do both....and well to boot.

Its not about just adding until they say yes. The price to say yes is higher than any team should be willing to pay to take him. Thus the only real scenario is a buyout IMO. NYR may have to bite the bullet on both Girardi and Staal.

The last thing you can do in a "rebuild" is take on contracts like those
