Team: 2018-19 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 20, 2018
Published: Apr. 20, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Thought experiment: How do the Habs look with two top UFAs and one high draft pick? The $$$ amounts should be enough to draw JT and JC to the gates of Hell, so no matter how you feel about Montreal, they would have a tough time saying no.

Giving up on Chucky .... tisk, tisk.

I love the roster. Cap might get crazy 2-3 years out, but nice problem to have if you've had a few long runs in the playoffs. Then again, there's not a lot of evidence that JT and Carlson are winners. You might just have an expensive crew of one-and-dones.

So you docked me two stars for trading Chucky?!!! That's pretty harsh, Raf.

On that, I just don't think Chucky will ever get his act together in Montreal. In Pittsburgh, he'd be an awesome winger and bring some young legs to a team that is starting to get a bit on the old side. I think Sheahan is a solid 2-3 centreman and, for what Julien likes, a good fit.

I don't like the chucky trade at all. imagine Galchenyuk alongside Tavares...If he can put up 30 goals with centers like Plekanec, danault and desharnais like he did in 15/16 just think of his point production with an elite center like Tavares. I like the roster apart from that though.

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback. So keep Chucky and trade Max? That's OK, too. Who could you get as a solid #2 C for Max?

(FWIW, the Chucky trade was to get a little something now (Sheahan) and to get a second #1 pick in the 2020 draft in case ... you know ... accidental lottery year... Lafrenniere.)

maybe Ryan O'Reilly? could even shoot for Nugent-Hopkins, by giving McDavid his 30+ goal scoring winger in patches. Mikael Grandlund aswell as a pick or prospect for patches. We can get a decent return for him so im sure if bergy does the right thing he will fill the hole on center, at least temporarily.

How about someone like Zacha from NJ? He has taken a back seat to Hischier.

ROR or RNH are both too expensive. The idea behind Sheahan is he's big and can skate, but still has a middling price tag.

I haven't seen enough of Zacha. Thought he was mainly a LW.

Anyone know about Sam Reinhart? Would Buffalo trade him for Pacioretty?

youre right, I didn't realize ROR cap, Nuge isn't TOO bad per say, only 1.5m more than patches for 2 more years. Im still not sold completely on Sheahan, never reaching 20 goals and considering we need scoring I don't know how well that will work. I like the idea of Zacha, young guy, save some cap with his ELC, put up 64p in 51 games in his last year with Sarnia, good player. I like Reinhart too.
