Created by: lavsim96
Team: 2017-18 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: May 6, 2018
Published: May 6, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Pick #4-Adam Boqvist
Pick #13-Joe Veleno/Hayton/Kupari
Pick#20-Lunderström/Mcleod/Thomas
Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Janmark, Mattias
  2. 2018 1st round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
Stars makes a big splash in front of their hometown.
Dont underestimate the value of re-uniting Pacc and Radu, the Stars will have two duo's that can change the course of a game by their own.
DAL
  1. McCarron, Michael
  2. Pacioretty, Max
Additional Details:
Habs get a center and a pick to draft another young center.
McCarron is a thrown-in more than anything else.
2.
MTL
  1. Joseph, Pierre-Olivier
  2. 2018 1st round pick (ARI)
Additional Details:
#23 pick last year, left-handed d-man the habs could build with.
Giving up the 23rd overall to move into the top-3 seems reasonable.
JDLR thrown in there cuz why not.
ARI
  1. De La Rose, Jacob
  2. 2018 1st round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
Even with Paccio gone we still have more than enough left-handed winger, i know Zadina can play on the right side but Drouin, Chucky, Scherbak and potentially Lehkonen fills that role.
3.
MTL
  1. Subban, Jordan
  2. 2018 1st round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
Retaining Jeff's cap is important for the kings who can't afford much high cap guys. It therefore adds value to Petry.
He brings the mobile right handed shot they need behind Doughty a bit like Voynov was.
LAK
  1. Petry, Jeff ($2,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Would be hilarious to see a Subban back in MTL!

ARi trade is ok, but the other trades have problems.

That Dallas trade - I get your logic, reuniting Patches and Radulov. Problem is that they'll play different lines. Radu will be in the first line, while Pacioretty is just going to take Janmark's place at the 2nd line winger. And that pretty much soils the deal. Janmark is upgrading young forward who had a decent season, whilst Patches had a bad season and his ending contract brings a certain risk... Adding a first rounder from Dallas in that trade is just bad idea. I think Dallas would be better off without making that trade.

And Kings have no need for Petry. They already have a surplus of big money d-men (Doughty, Muzzin, Martinez, Phaneuf). Adding Petry is pointless - no team would want to have over $3M third pair d-man.

Your wrong on Petry. He played top pairing minutes with Weber out and was solid getting a career year of 12g 30a for 42 pts. He is a perfect top-4 right handed d-man...which is something you didn't mention. Matinez, Muzzin, Phaneuf, Forbort are all left-handed.
3m for Petry for the next 3 years is a deal for the Kings

In a sense, yes. But to make that work, I think one of those three should be traded. Like said, they really cannot afford to have 5 over $3M d-men in the team. It's inconceivable.
