as a hawks fan i would definately do this trade if the hawks have a better option on the RW with toews and what would be pacioretty there.

1) You want to trade Saad for a guy who is 4/5 years older and only signed for one more season? And throw in a capable center for a 2nd and 3rd in a draft or two from now, meaning those players selected wouldn't likely impact the Hawks until 4/5 seasons? Jeez.

2) Dulair cannot be signed for so little - he has to be offered at least what he made this past season $1.2m at minimum. That's just the rule for RFA qualifying offer of anyone making over $1m.

3) You can't just sign RFAs from other teams - Paquette and Fucale would have to be acquired first via trade.

4) I do like the idea of Paquette-Bozak-Grabner as a checking line, but they're not likely to score enough to warrant Bozak getting $4m.

Could offer sheet. Fucale wouldn't cost us anything to offer sheet, but at that price, Montreal would just keep him. Paquette, not so much. We would need to give up a 2nd round pick to get him at that price, and I'm not sure a player like that is necessarily worth a 2nd rounder.

Sure, but offer sheets don't happen often for a reason - either because teams typically match or because it's considered ungentlemanly.

We also don't have a 2nd for an offer sheet for that Paquette proposal.

The point of the trade was to free up cap space that the hawks desperately need and get a 25-30 goal scorer in return isn't too bad and draft picks we get in return were for maybe a trade in the future maybe trade deadline. Duclair I could care less really. Bozak is easily worth 4 million a year and would be great in a hawks uniform.

Why do the Hawks need to desperately free up cap space? They actually have the most cap space they've had in years, especially with Hossa LTIR in effect. You're pretty much betting everything on one more run at the cup next season or otherwise you traded Saad for nothing because MaxPac will be gone or wanting around $6 on his next deal too. And you're throwing in a useful center for nothing? It's bad asset management.

And I actually like Bozak, but his numbers are somewhat inflated riding with wingers like Kessel and JVR over the years and getting OZS and lower QOC. He could maybe get close to 40 points if he was riding with Kane, but not the guys you're proposing especially since Q would would use them as a checking line. That's not really worth $4m.

They need to free up cap space for debrincat and schmaltz. How are they going to sign them with sadd making 6 million and anismov making 4.5 million for the next 4 years. Pacioretty could score 35-40 goals for the hawks and yah they would make a run a long run in the playoffs with this team, it makes total sense
