Window still open, what to do?

UFA-
I think we can safely let all our UFAs walk here, only Rowney even saw regular usage at the NHL level

RFA-
Bryan Rust, Oleksiak, and Sheahan are must bring backs, all all should realistically be on team friendly deals. Jarry, Simon, and Kuhnhackle should be brought back as depth pieces. It's now or never for Sprong, give the man his chance.

TRADE BAIT-
Conor Sheary is the first name that comes to mind for me. Too much money, not enough production. Young, easy to move, replaceable. I dont think any moves need made with haste and any trades will likely be later in the year around deadline. Hagelin is another name that might be attractive for a team searching for a rental, his value may have increased as he got his **** together at the end of the year and speed, now more than ever, is seen as such an important asset.

What do we want?-
bringing in a RD would be great, or LD if theres not a good option out there (and Oleksiak can move to RD). Perhaps a back up goalie if Jarry doesnt make some progress.

yup, pretty much, biggest improvement we can make is just get healthy and get some time off. Could use some defensive depth, but as long as Brass, and Phil get going again we should be just dandy

No thanks, speedy two way players are valuable, just ask cogliano, hagelin, or horvat about their salary. Try trading Hunwick and Dumoulin. That's more than 6 million in cap space to get rid of those dumpster fires.

was with you until moving Schultz, having redundancy at D is so important, why waste it by getting rid of one of our most stellar Dmen? we should keep all the guys we have (tanger, olli, dumo, and schultz), bring back big rig and sign de hann

Dumo-Letang (this pair works well together, Dumo's defensive play covers for Letang to make risky plays)
Maatta-Schultz (justin is capable now of covering maatta's poor pinches and this pairing historically worked for us all year)
De Haan-Oleksiak (this would be a FANTASTIC third pairing)

we have so much depth at wing and very little at D, I would much rather sacrifice a replaceable winger

dont know why you keep dishing on Dumo. Advanced numbers are all good, and his offensive production has increased every year so far. Plus he eats minutes like a horse and is still only 26. And his numbers improved in playoffs, which tells us he is a big game performer. And he had a low PDO this year so its likely all his numbers go up again next year.

you cant solve defensive depth (or more accurately, lack thereof) by trading away Dmen, you have to bolser your group by bringing new in and forcing guys to compete.

hunwick is a sunk cost, if someone needs/wants him, he's gone, but nobody wants to be paying 2 mill for a guy to sit in the press box. Similar to back when we had scuderi, the best thing we can do is sit back and wait for an opportunity to trade him but its gunna take quite a while

Nathan beaulieu for Sheary or Hagelin. NB is a bottom pair D and Sheary/Swagelin have higher cost and can help team speed on the 3rd line in BUF.

Letang being atrocious covered for Schultz being really bad.

EDIT: I also said if we sign De Hann
