2018-19 Ducks

Created by: sooonk
Team: 2018-19 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: May 3, 2018
Published: May 10, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Ducks have a problem with their current roster (and signed RFA's) they have just under $5 mill in cap space (if it is $80 mill).
In 2019-2020, they would have roughly $16 mill available to sign Gibson, who will likely make $8 mil, leaving $8 mill left for FAs. To add to this, the ducks aren't getting any younger so the time for change is now.
MTL gets a solid 2nd line player who can play C for a 2 picks and a prospects.
CGY trade, Ducks get 3 solid prospects for a player with 1 year left on his deal, and he will be tough for the Ducks to re- sign.
With the situation built, they can re-sign Gibson and Henrique and still have money for free agency.
Lines combine youth and experience to help with a minor rebuild.

I like the move for Phillips the kid went on a tare in vic but I think instead of added Kylington the ducks should be looking for more solid right wing prospects (Hopefully we draft Noel this year)

I figure they draft one, but definitely an option.

If Silfverberg re signs I feel better about the trade. I do think the Ducks need to get younger so I like where this is going.

I think you completely overvalued Cogliano. He's a good shutdown guy but his offensive is lacking, which MTL needs. Also they're kinda in a rebuild limbo, so I don't think they'd trade the young De La Rose.

Also, it would be better to sign Monty and Kase to long term deals now for a little more money than to wait a few years and pay them more.
