I hope you win the cup with this line up cause come next year you will be in cap hell with the raises Marner and Matthews will get. Without a huge trade I don’t see how you can sign JT.

This is what I think to myself every time I see a Leafs AGM sign Tavares, Carlson, Doughty or Karlsson. They would need to move Marleau and probably one of Gardiner or Kadri.

This is what i meant with the title. Depending what Matthews gets (more than Eichel, less than McDavid), Marner gets a 3 year bridge deal for them to clear out some dead cap or gets moved, theyll end up letting UFAs go, maybe moving them at the TDL. They'll need to hit on these prospects, but its not very unlikely.

Your forwards are fine, they did great the last two seasons. It's the defence that's stopping Toronto from really competing and should probably be the focus rather than trying to acquire Tavares, as deadly as this team would be with him.

Ah, yes, à la Shattenkirk. happy Washington finally broke their curse against the (f'ing) Penguins though, so they'll likely try to move a contract like Orpik to give Carlson the money he wants to stay. I doubt he'll go to FA after the season they've had.
