Toronto will not do this trade. Andersen is their goalie for the long term. Toronto is in desperate need for a RHD.

What about Ellis + Watson for Nylander alone? Dante Fabbro could then move in the lineup.

Okay 1st this trade was to get rid of Zaitsev so if it's Nylander, trade talks starts with Subban. I like Ellis but he's not the same value as Nylander and Watson is a Hyman, Brown, Grundstrom, Johnsson. Etc. We don't need another Watty.

As for getting Rinne, I do agree with you that Freddy is the Leafs guy but they probably want Rinnes contract off the books if they are getting rid of the cost efficient Ellis for a longer more expensive contract (for at least next year anyway) that's why I also added Sparks. Saros and Sparks can be a very good tandem next year especially behind that D core.

I also forgot to mention, Leafs RHD is going to most likely be resolved in house, that probably means either or both of Holl and/or Lilegren will be called up. Not to mention Ozhiganov who the Leafs will sign in the next week or 2.

The Leafs need a 1st pair RHD. I think they could go for a run if they use Nylander to make this trade happen. Zaitsev can be a good 2nd or 3rd pairing on the right side, no doubt. Ron Hainsey should be playing bottom pair role next year hopefully. Given that, I believe the Leafs may be in a good place to part with Nylander for some immediate needs.
