So should a lot of players but that is the world of the cap. GMs will always find a way to circumvent the cap... you think fisher coming out of retirement might not have had some planning.

I believe Pronger was working for the NHL league office while he Arizona was still using his cap space.

To be fair to the Blackhawks, the NHL did change the rules regarding recapture 1 or 2 years after they approved Hossa's contract. And no one really wants to see what would happen to Nashville if Shea Weber retired before his contract is up.

The league approved his contract under the old CBA, so the real BS is changing the rules to try to stick it to teams that worked the system legally. It's already prevented Pronger and a few others a right to retire gracefully and when they want, and now Hossa doesn't have that option either.
