Jets have so many guys in the system that can fill in the Shaw role, most notably Brendan Lemieux.

Thats true but the playoff experience can help a lot too. We will see what happens with Shaw. It will definitely be interesting

Sorry, Jets need cap space not the fathom playoff experience at 3.9m a year. Sabres are rebuilding, one team that doesn't need a one year rental in Patches.

For Shaw some team can take the contract if he isn't put on LTIR. That honestly was just a thought I got from yesterday but it's true they need space for Laine, etc. As for O'Reilly the Habs need him, Pacioretty could provide Eichel with a nice scoring winger if it doesn't work then they will need to trade Galchenyuk instead but I honestly could see the Sabres take Pacioretty.

You're just trading for what the Canadians needs not what the teams needs are. You don't think the Sabres don't need ROR who is one a long term contract compared to just one year of Patches. Guys like Shaw can't be traded unless similar money is coming back to Montreal, and as indicated by other comment, the Jets have lots of wingers. Shaw being trading for picks is really impractical for other teams. .
