McAvoy could easily earn 6-7M AAV on his next deal. Even being conservative, that 18-20M is going to go quick.
McAvoy = 6-7M
Heinen = 3.5-4.5M
donato = 2-3M
Carlo = 3-4M
16.5 - 18.5, and that's just the big names. Jf-Karlsson, fitzgerald, and Cehlarik. Obviously, rough numbers and who knows where they actually come in, but for sake of discussion, that money could go fast. On Heinen, i don't understand why so many Bruins fans don't like him? Yes, he ha a poor showing in the playoff, but he wouldn't be the first rookie to. That said, he is coming off a 47 point rookie season, heee. He was a top scoring rookie, espite playing a majority of the time on the 3rd line (with Nash and Backes). This was also with a decent stretch where he was cold. Also, I think you're confusing onato with Heinen on the winger comment. I on't eve ecall anyone or he, himself, saying he couldn't play the right side. I am with you on fitzgerald. I hope he gets a shot next season. I just don't expect him to jump Heinen or donato for a T6 role. I think he makes a niche as a 4th line player, at least to start.
Those are reasonable estimates, although perhaps I might disagree with Heinen's contract out of all of those. But as you said, who knows where those numbers actually come in? The original point of this exercise was trying to fit John Tavares into the roster at a 10M/year contract. Are you saying you would rather not have him on the Bruins for fear of not being able to re-sign Danton Heinen, or Ryan Donato?

And yes, that trade is 100% legal. You can't re-acquire a player whom you've already retained salary for, but there is nothing to say you can't trade a player away and then immediately reacquire him.
Okay. Thank you for confirming. I do stand by my comment that it is something you woul see in a video game an that's petty much it. Has this eve been one in the NHL? I can't remember anything like that happening.
