Description
Part of the value in this deal is that by moving Johnson, TB no longer has to protect him during the Seattle Expansion Draft due to his NTC kicking in (clause begins July 1, 2018).

After putting this together, I noticed that TB has already provided conditional language on their 2019 1st round pick to NYR. *If TB wins the cup in 2019, then the 2019 2nd round pick included in the McDonagh/Miller trade becomes the 2019 1st rounder.

I believe that CGY would require the 1st round pick, especially since Johnson has a full NTC (Treliving has avoided these very well with all the recent contracts for CGY), plus the inclusion of Adam Fox.

He has a NTC which makes him eligible to be selected in expansion (his NTC allows him to submit a 20 team No Trade list though) It's the NMC (No move clause) that teams must protect, so you'll need to rework the trade a bit smile I would love to see a good RW on the top line though!

Huh? What part of this is a joke? TB would be interested in adding a Top 4 dman who is cheaper than Johnson. Plus they got a Grade A defense prospect...
