O’Reilly to Calgary, deal with Carolina

Description
Buffalo gets Rask and buries him in Rochester. They acquire Foegele , a young speedy physical forward in the deal as well a second round pick. They get Larsson, and cap space and get out from three years of Rask’s contract. Beaulieu is just a toss in.

Calgary for ROR, Brodie is the centerpiece of the deal. BUFFALO now with picks 32 and 42 trades pick 42 with ROR, Baptiste to Calgary for Brodie, Jankowski, and Parsons. Keep in mind. Brodie only has two years left. And Jankowski is an RFA. ROR would be an upgrade over Jankowski and he can also play both wings where he is actually better.

I signed three veterans to short term to mid range deals in Neal, ward and Ryan, and I am also giving Nail Yakupov a pro tryout when Colorado does not re sign him.

Hutchinson. Signs as the #3 goalie and Joey Macdonald is signed to compete for Rochester’s job as a veteran presence.

I’m going to use Rask on the wing to try and get more out of him due to his average speed

Buries him in Rochester? He's not that bad. Somebody would claim him.

Five stars for trading O'Reilly.
I do not like trading McCabe but that is a decent return. less than I think he is worth but better than any other trade I have seen on this site.
I also like trading for Rask, he may be over paid 3rd/4th liner but he is an excellent face off center. Larsson is also an excellent face off center who is not over paid, Larsson and Beaulieu both had very difficult years and I would hate to trade both of them for a player who may be a partial cap dump.
I do not like the O'Reilly trade, Brodie is good, but he is not Hamilton. IMO straight up is about correct, but I sort of think Calgary may be the wrong trading partner, they have Jankowski, Monahan, Bennett and Backlund.

CAR is not taking that deal. Rask had a bad year, played injured and is getting a very bad rep. He is solid, young 200’ center that just needs to get healthy and have a bounce back year. I don’t share the need to dump his salary and it isn’t a bad deal for a 40-50 pt center.
