I'll be honest. That isn't a bad trade. It also frees up about 2 mil a year in cap room. I'd think Blake would be interested in this.

I’d be very weary giving all that up for Phil. He’s been great and all but he’s now entering his 30’s on big deal and will expect another big deal when this deal ends. He has multiple cups now and who knows how effective he’ll be moving forward without Sid or Gino. I’d be sick if I were a king fan and made this move. Next thing is Gabe Villardi has a video game addiction and is heading towards bust territory if he doesn’t figure that out. He certainly won’t sniff any top 6 nhl roles next season.

I give this 4.5 stars. This is probably the closest that I’ve seen for a Phil Kessel trade and makes tons of sense. It gives the pens a second line winger, a top 4 defenseman so Maatta can move down to the 3rd pair and balance the D giving Letang less minutes. The only thing is that either the kings would have to swap Toffoli out and Pearson in. If they’d rather send Toffoli in the trade then upgrade the pick to a 1st or take Hunwick back in the deal.

Kessel is signed for like 4 or 5 more years. I doubt the kings would resign him by then. Kessel will stay dominant for the duration of his contract. And that would make it well worth it.

Stick TToffs in Kessels exact situation and they put up very similar numbers. PLUS Alec Martinez a good 3-4 Dman and a 2nd? From a shaky Kings team. Stop it lol. Plus add the fact pit is absolutely strapped cap wise and hold zero leverage in any deals because teams know they have to dump money. They would never pull that type of package for Phil. Guess we’ll see what happens lol

I certainly expect him to be dominant for the next 2-3 years. After that it won't matter. Two things the Kings have to do this off Season. Sign Doughty to an extension and get a productive scoring winger. In addition it clears up 2 million in Cap as well. I'm not thrilled about losing the 2nd round pick, but I'd pull the trigger.

I don't understand the Vilardi comment?

Phil Kessel would excel in LA. He doesn’t need Sid or Geno, he played probably his best hockey with Nick Bonino as his center. LA needs some scoring and this would be beneficial both ways.

I highly doubt if Toffoli was playing with guys like Bonino or Brassard, or even Malkin that he would put up 92 points. Maybe 60-70 tops. Phil can be the star on his line, Toffoli needs a star to help him excel. Pitt sure spends close to the max cap, but that doesn’t make them lose leverage lol. They are around the same spot as the kings are when it comes to cap space and have more valuable contracts than the kings so I’d say the kings have equal if not less leverage.
