I like your thinking/praying? in the Karlsson trade (not bad value and Ryan gets dumped), but NFWay he would sign in Buffalo, even for $20 aav.....

I highly disagree. They'd see success, plus he'd be paired with Karlsson 2.0. Him and Dahlin would be unstoppable

Not seeing that potential for success with this lineup. He would be relying on the hope that a flawed franchise could change. Better trading partners out there....

That forward core looks awful.

That trade is far too risky. The notion is that Karlsson doesn't want to be part of a rebuild; we'd either have to overpay him hard or lose him anyway the year after. Might as well take a run at Carlson if you want to do that.

If you lose him then the trade becomes a year of Karlsson, a b-prospect, and a boat anchor contract for O'Reilly, Okposo, a first, a second, our best D-prospect, and a b-prospect.

Even if you resign him, is that team even any closer to competing? Those forwards aren't going to cut it.

It does shake up the team though. So something, I guess.

the 2nd line is questionable, and Nylander, The first line is fine (Ryan can benefit from Eichel and Reinhart opening up the ice for him, I dont buy into the hate on Ryan), Nash and Connolly had a decent years but I'd rather they were on the 3rd line. Mittelstadt will move to 2c eventually. Flippula and Nylander idk what to expect. Next year they have Asplund, Pu, Malone, O'Regan, Olofsson, Oglevie, Smith all challenging for a spot, Davidsson and Weissbach probably get looks too. I do think that forward group is better and the d is 1000% better. If Mittelstadt/Nylander delivers then they are challenging for a playoff spot.

No, I'm not trading for Karlsson. I'm not dumping large amounts of assets into a Dman who will begin to decline within 3 years and will ask for the moon cap wise. Nor do I want Bobby Ryan anywhere near my top line.

I don’t want to either but I highly disagree with Karlsson dropping off in 3 years. Karlsson isn’t some random middle pair guy, he’s the best Dman in hockey right now.

Everyone is going to get caught up on Ryan, but analytically he is salvageable, I’d risk Okposo for a shot at it. Maybe I hold the 2nd or 1st back. If not they just buy him out after year 3, it doesn’t hurt them

It's not just Ryan, the old and passed Filppula, Riley Nash in the second tier, who had one season of the outbreak, again, Connolly than you like it is not clear, we need young, fast and talented players, under the Housley system, in this part I do not see.

I highly disagree with your assessment of Connolly. I also said I’d rather that’s the 3rd line. Flippula is a stop gap. If they are so concerned with speed and nothing else they need to move out Reinhart, O’Reilly, and Scandella to start

I didn't say I didn't like Connolly, I asked what you like about him, I didn't see many games with him, and I basically judge by the stats, 20-25 points on average for the season, somehow not enough for a guy to play in the second tier, even in Buffalo. Speed in attack, not in defense, it is difficult to get all the fast defenders, and that they still know how to play well. I'm fine with the speed of Reinhart, and Yes, I wouldn't mind signing 1 or 2 players 28+ years, but this is the maximum.

Oh sorry I think we got lost in translation. Connolly is a good character guy, for me. He works hard every year and improves every year. Nobody expects him to be the 2nd tier guy, but he’s a very good 3rd RW. Especially if he is playing with Mittelstadt, he’ll be Mittelstadt’s Reinhart and is someone that will set a good on ice example for him as well as set a good off ice example for the team

So I don't mind Connolly being in the third link, but then I don't want to see Pominville in the second, maximum fourth.

Canucks accept even if we’re high on MacEwen. We’d love to recoup that 4th we lost for Pouliot
