Repeat (God, that felt good to write). Ducks N Wings

Created by: MW6
Team: 2018-19 Washington Capitals
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 4, 2018
Published: Jun. 9, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Draft:
#30 Dominik Bokk, RW
#31 Jake Wise, C
#46 Blake McLaughlin, LW
#54 Filip Johansson, RD

Ducks have expressed a need for more scoring depth and a desire to be able to roll 4 lines. Burakovsky gives them a skilled left shooting winger and Connolly adds depth scoring. Silfverberg is a pending UFA, but gives Caps a matchup 3rd line to free up Backstrom to face easier competition at times. Silfverberg has also been known to step up come playoff time.

Detroit snatches up Grubauer to take the reins in net and agree to eat Orpik’s last year of the contract as part of the deal while also seeing value in using his experience and leadership for the younger D-men coming up. Caps add the 30th OA and a good skating, cheap RHD.

Silfverberg had two more regular season goals than Connolly this year, and will be gone as UFA after 1? Burakovsky could be around for nine more years, or more? Could be better?

I love the Detroit trade. Only problem is he would be taking up a roster spot for Hronek and/or Hicketts, but he would be pretty easy to flip for a pick while retaining his salary (Carolina, Nashville, San Jose). We have plenty of defensive leadership with Kronwall, Daley, and Green (very likely he re-signs). Anaheim trade makes sense too, Ducks need more forward depth and speed, Burakovsky's injuries are a big concern, opens up roster spots for cheaper options with maybe more upside. All while getting a 20+ goal scorer who is defensively responsible. I think Samsonov will be in Hershey next season though, maybe a cheap older back up like Johnson or Pavelec on a 1 year deal for less than a million. Also as a Red Wings fan I was so happy Washington beat the Penguins and won the cup. Ovie's and Oshie's reactions were priceless.

Or, you know.. he could be re-signed if he’s a good fit, like Oshie and Eller. But yeah, Burakovsky might have a slightly higher ceiling and is Costcontrolled a little longer. But Silfverberg fits Caps PP2, is a good PK’er.
Also the playoff thing, Silfverberg has 45 pts in 69games, Bura&Connolly have 25 pts in 80 games amongst them.

Hard no for red wings...we will not trade assets for grubby ..we WILL sign a UFA goalie... Will NOT trade Jensen &/or a pick for an old slow vet D that makes too much $ especially since we're gonna be tight up to cap & we're pushing our kids for roster spots...orlov & djoos etc might be a different story..but we're going young NOT OLD ..this isn't an uncapped 1990's anymore sorry
