I appreciate your attempt at logic, but most of those salaries are goofy, and the site is all over the place, e.g. Patrick Maroon is $5.2....

It looks like you used Matt Cane's predicted salaries and terms which is all well and good except he uses strictly math to analyze the free agent class. And on top of that Cane's salaries are usually pretty accurate but his predicted term tends to be less precise. Trouba's on the record saying he wants a long term deal and Chevy would be stupid if he didn't take advantage of that. Matt Cane has Trouba predicted for a shade under 6mill if he signs an 8 year contract, and 6mill is a fair deal across the board.

Same with Morrissey there is not a chance we would bridge him and have a bridge deal expire the same year we have to sign Connor, Laine, and Wheels.

Myers is worth at least a late first on his own and with a point a game AHL prospect offered you have no business taking a 2nd round pick, unless they send us a hell of a prospect to go with that. The NJD trade isn't bad, but Chevy's done such a good job that our most pressing needs atm are finding a long term replacement for Buff in 3 years and one for Wheels in 3-5 years. I'd rather get a 1st round pick this year and take a RHD in a ridiculously strong RHD class and give him 3 years to develop than an earlier 1st round RHD next year or the year after and have less time to develop. Defensive prospects are finicky like that.
