I saw this and now want to kill myself. The Blues can swallow the last year of Bouwmeesters contract and even if they traded him they wouldn't trade Thomas.

Ok

Ok? Why would the blues trade their number one prospect AND retain on Bouwmeester who has one more season left on his contract for just a 2nd and 3rd round pick? Makes zero sense.

Looking back on it, it's not worth giving up Thomas, but if Kovalchuk and Tavares are priorities, you could use a prospect to get a team to bite down on an expensive contract and then try signing them. Not saying it would happen, just setting up a scenario where it would

And in that case why would they retain? They would trade sobotka or berglund and place Bouwmeester on the LTIR. Plus edmundson will get more money unless he signs a one year deal which idk why he would.

Sure - but this is awful. Also, why is Fabbri our 2c when Schenn would be?
