Description

A lot of unlikely things would have to fall into place for this to work. First and foremost, Tavares would have to take less money than he would get by signing with NYI or elsewhere for that matter. Definitely looking at dumping more cap money next year (who goes and who takes them). Would probably have to be Carter or Brown depending on the cap number next year. No telling how ugly the cap hit would look for expiring contracts after that (not good).

Is that the only thing you don't like about the trade? What are you thought of this breakdown?
C - Kempe and 20th not = or > (3rd) LW - Zadina?
LD/RD - Martinez + C - Thompson > C - Froese + 4th Rounder?

Don't know enough about Martinez or Thompson, but Froese is "meh" and a 4th rounder is nothing special. But I wouldn't trade quality for quantity of this little extra value over Froese and a 4th is meant to bridge up to 3 overall. I just don't see how this fits with what I think Montreal is doing.
