Saves Florida a lot of money, with Zadina’s ELC and Florida get Patches short term and Zadina long term. They are stacked this year and even if they let Patches walk they win the trade (let Tippett start in the A, next years Patches walks and Tippett comes up.)

Montreal passes on that. That’s their last two most valuable pieces and they still don’t have a center or a LHD

Huberdeau was listed as a LW,C and Montreal likes fitting square pegs in round holes. I figure he’s an upgrade at C anyway. And he’s French

Has to be a joke to think the Cats would give away Huberdeau.

Not giving away when you’re getting Zadina plus 2 20 goal scorers and another pick in the top 40 in a deep draft.

Unless Patches came with a cap friendly extension then Tallon would never even consider this and even with it the chances are slim

id let him walk, Zadina is the prize and they are loaded for the year while their other prospects develop. 2 in the 2nd round and Tippett, plus Malgin and Mamin have another year of development. They clear out some big cap next year too so maybe they extend Patches, they don’t need to to justify the trade though
