I really like the carolina trade, but what drugs are you smoking for that CGY trade. flames get a terrible contract and a few picks for a top 2 dman? like at least throw in the SJ 1st or something.

I only smoke the good stuff obviously. I totally considered the SJ 1st round pick, however I grabbed the SJ pick with the assumption that Rasmus Kupari was available at #21 and wanted to make that selection to bolster center prospect depth. I don't necessarily view the Abdelkader contract as terrible, it is terrible for the Red Wings because they have too many bad contracts. I needed to get one off the books and also try to strengthen the defence. I was considering adding another 2nd or 3rd pick. Calgary is in need of a third line player and Abdelkader fits that bill nicely.
