The future may not be that bleak.

Created by: KingsLover

Initial Creation Date: Jun. 22, 2018

Description
The scoring will be terrible this year, the defence will be subpar and the goaltending has potential but if they perform the same as last year.... then yikes. But the future is actual pretty bright with potentially 3 1sts in 2019. Plus they have a lot of talent in the AHL, guys like Chlapik, Brown, Hague, Wolanin, Jaros, and Bergman. While in the NHL they got White, Suzuki, and obviously Chabot. Plus guys like Ceci, Coyle, Brodin, Lindgren and Haula.

Ottawa releases their 2018 draft pick to the Avs, because let's face it this will be the worst team in the league next year.
    2.
    OTT
    1. Lehkonen, Artturi
    2. Lindgren, Charlie
    3. Sklenička, David
    4. 2019 1st round pick (MTL)
    Additional Details:
The pick is lottery protected this year, if it is in the lottery then the Canadiens give Ottawa 2 2nd rounders.
    MTL
    1. Duchene, Matt
    Additional Details:
Send get a promising goalie in Lindgren, Lehkonen is a player I like solid top 9 forward. Let's just face the fact the Duchene trade was a disaster and the team needs to move on before they lose everything.
    3.
    OTT
    1. Brodin, Jonas
    2. Coyle, Charlie
    3. Foligno, Marcus
    4. Olofsson, Gustav
    5. 2019 1st round pick (MIN)
    Additional Details:
The Wild get a player in Mark Stone who looks like he's about to become an elite scorer, he reminds me very much of Blake Wheeler, someone who's elite on both ends of the ice and is either a PPG player or just less than that.
    MIN
    1. Borowiecki, Mark
    2. Stone, Mark
    3. 2020 2nd round pick (OTT)
    4. 2020 3rd round pick (CBJ)
    Additional Details:
The send give up an elite scorer for a guy in Coyle who the Wild are already able to replace with Kunin. Coyle can either be a piece for the Sens future or they can trade him as he is an extremely valuable piece in the NHL due to his contract and his ability to play both wing and centre. Foligno is a cap dump, and Brodie has been in rumours for years that the Wild would use him to get a great scorer. Olofsson also projects to at least be a bottom pair guy.

    6. 2020 1st round pick (VGK)
    7. 2020 2nd round pick (DAL)
    Additional Details:
*The first is conditional on if karlsson resigns. If he doesn't;t it turns into the later of the Pens/Vegas 2nd rounder.

The Knights get the consensus best D-man in the game, along w a really great 3rd line centre in Pageau who can at least replace Haula's speed and two way game.
    VGK
    1. Karlsson, Erik
    2. Pageau, Jean-Gabriel ($1,000,000 retained)
    Additional Details:
Ottawa gets the best deal that they can get from anybody else. They get Suzuki because between he and Glass I think they'd be more willing to give up Suzuki since Glass projects to be more of legit centre thanks to his size. Hague is a towering, young d-man who is fantastic offensively in comparison to Brannstrom who is more of a two way d-man. Haula is an up and coming top 6 centre tho from his shooting percentage I believe he overachieved and is actually just a really good number 3 or a poor man's number 2 (e.g. a faster version of Frans Nielsen or Val FIlpulla)

Goalie insurance, Smith is a frequently injured fellow and I don't believe it would be wise to expect Parsons or MacDonald to take the leap from the AHL to NHL this year.

    Where do we start?

This is NHL, they needs to stay somewhat competitive. This team may look like a dumpster fire right now, but wait 3 months, let the dust settle and smoke clear and they will be alright. They have elite players like Stone and Karlsson, Duchene, Chabot... Whoever they will get for 4th pick will be playing next season all 82 games (barring injury) too... I'm rolling my eyes here and I think I threw up a little bit in my mouth just by reading this scenario.

You don't give up elite assets like that even if you are Melnyk and Dorion knows talent even if he can't pronounce it.

Pyatt is worthless, I would give him away for free... The return on other players is either not enough or in case of future draft picks unknown and thus impossible to evaluate, meaning it is also probably too low...
