Interesting, from a CAR fan

Have to think it over for a minute, but.......

I think this could work for both teams

on a side note i don't quite understand the Sekera buy out, i would think you could at least trade him for a pick? does he really have no value?

You couldn't sign Saros. The Compensation would be your 2019 1st and 3rd. Anything less, and Nashville matches. With only 1 year left on Rinne's deal and him being 35. I'd guess they would match the 4.2m

You are also in a bit of trouble moving forward. I am not sure how much better Skinner is than RNH. If he ha a good year, he will get 6+

For EDM to be good/better than last year, you will need production from From at least 3-4 young guys. If they produce, they will need to get paid.

Chiarelli is poison.

I figured on a trade of Skinner and a 2nd round pick. More then what Washington got for Gruebuer. Not sure if Preds can match, Might not have cap room.

At a cost of close to 5 mil per year I don't think you will have any takers.

Sorry I am a little confused. Saros is a RFA
Here is the compensation breakdown for an RFA:

$1,339,575 or less No compensation
$1,339,576 to $2,029,659 Third-round pick
$2,029,660 to $4,059,322 Second-round pick
$4,059,323 to $6,088,980 First and third-round picks
$6,088,981 to $8,118,641 First, second and third-round picks
$8,118,642 to $10,148,302 Two firsts, a second and third-round picks
Over $10,148,302 Four first-round picks

Nashville has plenty of money this year. 12m and no real needs/players to sign that will demand a lot.
Problem with them is next year when Ellis & Fiala come up. However Rinne will be 37 and they probably would rather go with Saros
To sign Saros as an RFA - Nashville would match anything below $4,059,323 If you went over It would cost your 1st and 3rd rd 2019 picks. You could try to work out a trade for his rights, but it would have to be eqaul to a 1st and 3rd pick, or they prefer you make the offer sheet, and you have theoretically already traded your 20191st rd pick to Carolina.

If you make an offer on an RFA - you have to have the upcoming years draft picks to give up as compensation. It can't be future years, and they must be your own pick.

That is what is Stopping the Bruins , Leafs or other teams from making an offer on your guys - Nurse for example.

Montreal would take him in a contract swap with Schlemko.

Pacioretty, Shaw, Schlemko, Lindgren

For

Puljujarvi, Lucic, Sekera

Get rid of two bad contracts, pick up Pacioretty and a Backup/potential replacement for Talbot. The only thing Edmonton is losing here is Puljujarvi, who you could only hope becomes as good as Pacioretty is. Also they downgrade from Lucic and Sekera to Shaw and Schlemko but it's worth it to get rid of those contracts and gain much needed cap space.
