Description

The team below would require a lot of stars to line up. 1 - Tavares signs in TBAY making Tyler Johnson the odd man out with Callahan. 2 - LA still wants Patches despite possibly going into his final year of his contract with no extension and even worse denying the extension offer. Seems unlikely but a man can dream.

So a top 4 LHD, top 6 RW for a 1-year rental, a 4th liner, and a cap dump?

Don't think either trade is particularly fair for the team not named MTL. That Tampa package could land you Brock Nelson though.

Though i agree with your assessment, Byron isn't a 4th line player. he is more of a 3rd liner that can play up in the line up, but either way the trade is still not fair.

No matter how you choose to to describe and devalue MTL players... LA gets more goals(desperately needed) and an extra body on the blue line and MTL gets slightly younger and addressing a need on their blue line. Lets not forget that getting Patches at 1.5M retained salary is a huge bargain even for 1 year. Also Byron over the last two seasons outscored Tofolli.

In the description I mention that this would only happen if Tavares signs with TBAY. Having no cap space they would want picks in return. It should be only the 2 2nd rounders but, I added De La Rose as he is a cheap competent depth player who played his role very well when he was playing for Sweeden in the World Championship.
