Description

Keep long term pieces for a team that will be competitive in 3 years; else acquire picks and futures

All UFA deals are overpays but on short term, as no one wants to go to the Islanders.

Most importantly, don't do anything stupid like buying out Ladd, Clutter, Griess, Lucic... wait until 2 years down the road to address those questions. Be competitive in 2020 with a bevy of picks and young players.
