Description

de Haan will essentially replace Gardiner next year once he demands bigger money the Leafs can’t afford.

Brett Pesce is better than Nikita Zaitsev analytically and is also cheaper which works for Dubas. Carolina makes this trade to get a little more physical from the back end (Zaitsev averages more hits) but the main reason is to get Sparks in case Mrazek doesn’t work out.

that cap is tight... if you trade nylander and not sign De Haan and Shore i think you would be fine

Pesce might be the best Dman for the Canes. That's not near enough to get him. What's so special about "hits"? It means your team doesn't have the puck.

Slavin and Hamilton are by fair the best d-men on the Canes not Pesce. I’m hoping that Carolina values that Zaitsev hits much more than Pesce as they’ve stated they’d like to be tougher to play against. Personally, I think hits are overrated like you said it means you don’t have the puck. So basically my thoughts were Carolina seeing Pesce and Zaitsev as equals but then they add Sparks as well.

I have really been trying to figure out the value of Pesce. He is in my opinion a perfect d man to come and take a RHD spot on the leafs. Since what was offered here isn’t enough... what would u expect a reasonable offer would be?
