  1. Darling, Scott
  2. Faulk, Justin
Additional Details:
Carolina wants to get rid of Darling, who absolutely tanked them last year. They win heavily on the Talbot for Darling front but take the loss on the Lucic for Faulk front. Oilers only get 1 year of Faulk, if Darling continues to be bad he's a cheaper buyout option than Lucic.

I think you’re just mildly filling one hole while creating a massive hole in net. Talbot is going to bounce back and putting your faith with 2 unproven goalies is soemthing this team can’t afford.

A massive overpay on Strome. Anything more than 3.2 is gross cap mismanagement. Not sure why you'd move Sekera, currently your 4th best defenceman, for a player you have as the 13th forward. Why trade your 2nd pairing D for a guy you won't play? As for the Carolina deal, its not bad but I'd probably pass from an Oilers perspective.

Boone Jenner just signed for this exact deal. he is the same age as Strome and has the same numbers. I agree it's expensive but I think it's what this player costs in this market. Note that I made this assumption prior to seeing the Jenner contract, but it does validate the guess.

Sekera has several years left at 5.5m, is north of 30 and is coming back from knee surgery. There is risk there. Soderberg is cheaper and adds depth at C if Brodziak doesn't work out, and is only 2 more years. I'd rather move Russell but I don't think people take him and that salary. The Oil simply have too many left handed D.

Talbot for Darling is a win for Carolina, but it's the price of getting rid of Lucic, who's ageing curve and contract length make me really nervous. I like Darling's chances of bouncing back better than Lucic.
