Description

#1 - Trade away Backes to get some breathing room in future years. Use Krug + Carlo to accomplish this while still receiving good players on expiring contracts in return and not mortgaging our future draft picks. Sweeney wants to retain top picks. Plus, paying both Carlo and McAvoy next year would prove to be impossible.
#2 - Sign Nash again but no more than $4M. In my opinion he's probably only worth $3M but his history adds another Mil most likely.
#3 - Flip Skinner at the trade deadline for at least a first rounder depending on the standings and his asking price for an extension. If Nash can command that, Skinner easily could.

Worst trade imaginable for CAR

Adding 2 Dman when we already have 7 NHLers on the roster

then taking Backes on top of this

unfortunately i can't give you less than 1 star

CAR says no their top 4 d is basically set already. Backes doesn’t waive. Backes put up a low key 33 points in only 57 games, full season he’s well on his way to 45-50 point year. I think it’s critical to keep Backes, great locker room guy and ever since we’ve gotten him we’ve made the playoffs back to back season. If there’s a bad contract to move on from it’s krejcis and that’ll happen next offseason most likely.
