Lucic is a major cap dump for the next 5 years, Montoya is a career backup, nothing special. Gonna need more to take on that contract than a 1st this year and a 3rd, and more if you want 2 of our RFAS in Vesey and a good player in Spooner.

A huge NOPE from the NYR

Rangers looked to move Spooner last year after aquirung him oilers now have veseys brother signed in the organization NYR need a cheap backup for the king insert montoya and they need toughness insert lucic include the first rounder and a third. Maybe remove the third and add a b+ prospect or sumthing

Don't see why everyone thinks lucic is just a cap dump. He has the worst year of his career a complete standout and now he's done, but any player who has 1 good year but 5 terrible previous to that everybody wants to sign long term. Not saying lucic is worth the 6 mil but to say he's a cap dump and is done and can never be productive again is just stupid.

Jeff Gorton has gone on record saying that the team is not looking to move any of our RFAS, but will consider it for the right price. We also don't need a cheap backup, since we've got 23 million in cap right now (still need to sign our RFAS but that won't be over 15 mil) or a backup necessarily. We've got Alex Georgiev, who impressed last season after Pavelec got injured and filled in nicely for a rookie. He should get a shot again this season and since we don't need to contend this year, we don't need to start Hank every game and can give him more rest. While you're not necessarily wrong about toughness, in no way should the Rangers fill it with a Milan Lucic on the wrong side of 30 making 6 mil for the next 5 years, unless you really make it worth our while. A 1st, trash backup, Lucic and B+ prospect isn't even enough to make NY want to take on Lucic's contract, let alone trade you 2 roster players too. If Edmonton wants someone to take on Lucic, they're gonna need to offer up more.

Neither Spooner or vesey could bring back a first round pick alone. Lucic worst year still out produced vesey, sure maybe they don't want a backup cause they want to promote from within but I find it silly to think lucic a 1st and some kind of + whether it be more picks prospects some salary retention on lucic deal wouldn't even start a conversation. I really think people are writing off lucic way to much, I feel he will have a bounce back year in the 50pt range give or take. Time will tell

I am an Oilers fan along with a Lucic fan. Is Lucic career over, no. He did have a bad year along with every other Oiler not named McDavid. I am hoping for a bounce back year from Lucic along with a lighter, faster Lucic.

Is Lucic worth the $6M? No. But good luck trading him due to the cap hit and his NMC and NTC.
