Can I ask why Dallas is giving up a first round pick for Montreal to take Spezza.

My feeling is that 1st rounder will be between 20 and 30 and they can probably spend the money better elsewhere at the trade deadline

I’m sure there are better ways to use that first rounder and contracts are prorated at the deadline so would not need that much cap space at that point in the season. Can use the savings we have from Hanzal missing half the season.
