I think Krug has slightly more value than Pacioretty. However, since Patches can sign a new deal now while Krug can't for a year, this is evened out. 1st round pick in 2020 is conditional on Krug signing with the Habs. If he does, no pick is sent Habs way.

With Boston losing out on Tavares sweepstakes, and with Bolts potentially getting Karlsson, they need to do something big. With RUMOURS (not saying they are true) that they are willing to move on from Krug, this is a perfect storm for the Habs to take advantage of.

Value might be slightly off on Chicago trade, but basically a 1st round pick to absorb Hossa's cap hit as well as get Shaw and their 5th rounder back.

R U sure Patches wants to play with the one guy that almost decapitated him, Chara?

Why would CHI do that, it's not a cap dump for CHI, Hossa is on the IR indefinitely and MTL gave CHI two 2nd's for Shaw just years ago before he had concussion issues.
