Clague isn't ready for the NHL. He'll spend this season in Ontario and will be the 6/7 defenseman for the Kings the following season if he makes the team out of camp. He has a promising future, but no good will come out of thrusting him into the top pairing before he's ready.

While Montour is the the type of player the Kings need on defense, there's no way the Kings and Ducks will ever be trade partners.

If the Kings trade Muzzin it's going to be for immediate top six scoring help. There's nothing coming back in either trade that helps the Kings score.

The net difference for this season's Kings is Montour for Iafallo and Muzzin. Muzzin is a quality top 3 defenseman, and Iafallo is a quality prospect. This trade makes them worse in the short term. Not gonna happen.
