Next year looks spicy

Created by: joshelkin
Team: 2019-20 New York Islanders
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 19, 2018
Published: Jul. 19, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
In house:
1) Sign Lee to an 7 year extension and name him Captain
2) Trade Brock Nelson's RFA rights for picks
3) Let Eberle walk (Wahlstrom slides in as 2RW)
4) Move Beauvillier to 3C (natural position is C) and play Bellows 2LW
5) Buyout Clutterbuck and Boychuk

External:
1) Sign Duchene to fill C hole
2) Dobson gets NHL call up (starts on 3rd pair but will probably move up the ranks quickly)
3) Sign a top-4 D with the money saved by letting Eberle walk
4) Sign a goaltender or convince Ilya Sorokin to come to the NHL (in this case I used Bobrovsky who I think could kill two birds here)

Will have approximately $15M in cap space for Barzal next season ($6.6 avail now + $5.5M off books + cap increase)

MTL says no. You don't get two picks in the top 100 for negotiating rights.

He's still an RFA, you'd have control beyond "negotiating rights"...

Nelson will be a UFA after this year.

Are you positive? He's still showing up as an RFA here

He is an RFA for this season, this is the last year he will be restricted. 2019 season he is a UFA.

That second line looks sick. Ready to put up 75 goals on that line. I would just hope that we could get something for Ebs rights instead of letting him walk like JT.

Depends on where the team is at next season. Would make sense to trade deadline for a 1st+more if the team is out of contention assuming Lou sees a similar version to this team.
