Absolutely a terrible deal for the Penguins, no clue why they would agree with that. They lose a year on Maatta vs Larsson, and give up Kessel who is coming off a 92 point season, that is as many points as Strome has had in the last 3 years combined. Pulju still has some nice value, but that's not coming close to meeting Kessel's value over these next 4 years at a reduced rate b/c Toronto is still paying part of his salary.
