I don't see why the Leafs would trade a 6/7 d-man in Holl, top-2 man in the AHL, and a depth winger in Leivo for a one-year rental in Kronwall who isn't even half the player he used to be.

I would. We have one year of cap space. Might as well use it while giving trash in return

Detroit passes, Leivo could be in this trade as a part of a package and Holl could be a guy who could be called up in a pinch, and Marincin... well he doesn't add anything the deal, in exchange for Kronwall is a horrible trade. besides Kronwall isn't overall the guy the Leafs need

Ya, I mean the value in the deal is fair, but there are just variables that I would assume causes Dubas to lose interest (ie: age, contract, division, puck skills of Kronwall and the little bit of potential left in Holl).

I think if we don't hit a home run type dman we will look at a short term game like thisbofba veteran guy looking at one more shot. Never thought of Kronwall till now but it's worth a look

Fair enough. I also just remembered he played under Babs for years and is pretty much Babcocks dream D-man.

Just to be clear I see a high pick also added to this deal going to Detroit. Minimum a 2nd round

that's probably true, but i figured he's 37, 1 year left, he's not worth premium.
I only thought about the trade when I realized Detroit needed to free up cap for Larkin.
I can see a larger trade between these 2 teams.
