I know you probably saw this on Hockeybuzz, but I think the Habs wouldn't accept this trade. What they ask for and what they'd get are two different things. They're probably ask for a top prospect and a first round pick, but probably only get a top prospect and maybe a second, with a middle 6 forward (prospect would be like Rasmussen or Bertuzzi). Why would a rebuilding Wings team do this? But I do agree, it's a tough deal to make, however I like your thinking. smile

I guess just about anything is possible but the biggest thing I find hard to believe in this whole rumor is Nyquist and Helm okaying a move from one dumpster fire to another dumpster fire. Helm has his money I guess but Nyquist has a chance of one more good contract probably, just seems like he would want to go to the best possible destination to pump in some points for contract talks. Of course maybe the Habs are planning on giving him his money, who knows.

All of that said I don't like sending draft picks out on top of Nyquist right now, Wings need to keep accumulating picks and prospects not sending them out. Would rather send Nyquist out and get something back for the future, don't think the Wings need another 30 year old regardless of talent level when you consider where they are.

So this move is exactly what both teams don't need right now which means these two GMs will probably do it.

I don’t understand why so many of our fans have interest in patches. In the midst of rebuilding with already too many aging wingers taking up spots from young talent getting a veteran winger one a one year deal makes little sense to me.

I keep seeing this deal pop up (pretty sure HockeyBuzz created this rumor). No way MTL gets rid of Max Pac, brings in a one year rental, and takes on that awful Helm deal for only one draft pick. This deal makes zero sense for both teams.
