I don't think this would be the roster if it was right now but it especially wouldn't then next time team USA suits up in 2020 for the WCOH.

With so many young forwards hitting their prime in the next two years, I'm not sure all of those guys will be around. Like Kesler probably isn't - he'll be 36 by then, for example, and he's already on a major decline as a player. Suter will also be up there and Pavelski will be even older. Oshie and JVR will also be interesting to see since they're older but not outside their primes. Kane is probably the only guy who will be over 30 listed here that I think is a def lock.

Young forwards will be vying for spots. Like Larkin would most definitely be on this list - he's beloved by USA Hockey ops, he's a true #1 center, and he was great with Gaudreau and Kane at the World Champs this past summer. Center have been a point of weakness for the US for a while, so with a Matthews--Eichel-Larkin, they would have their best 1-3 depth they may have had in decades. Trocheck, Keller, and even Schmaltz are up and comers that could make it - I include the latter because if he's still paired with Kane by then, they do love to take teammates that already have a built in connection. And let's not forget we don't know where Jack Hughes would be yet. And those are just some centers - for wingers there's Conner, Zucker, Lee, Boeser, Debrincat, etc etc. Not all of them super young but top 10 US for their position.

And there are definitely younger better offensive d-men so Shattenkirk and Faulk are outdated (they didn't even get invites for the WCOH). The US younger d-men are going to be push some of these older guys. Jones, Werenski, and Ghost are just the start - what about McAvoy, Trouba, Butcher, Slavin, Pesce, Skjei, Pionk, Q.Hughes, etc etc. Good d-men has been a real strength of the USDP at the lower levels for the last decade or so. I'd take quite a few of these guys as is over 2-3 of the guys on your listed roster if the guy had to go right now vs in two years.

Forgot abt mcavoy, skjei or Quinn can replace suter, lions while good is a second pairing at most in nhl (I’m a rangers fan too). A few other defenseman you posted aren’t American?

By lions, I assume you mean Pionk. He may top out at 2nd pairing but he'd only 23 so I wouldn't pigeonhole him yet.

And the other 4 d-men I list are all American and have represented the US in the past.

Trouba - from Michigan, played in 8 international tournaments for team US
Butcher - from Wisconsin, played in 5 international tournaments for team US
Slavin - from Colorado, played twice for the USA internationally
Pesce - from NY, played once for the US internationally
