Can I just say, I would be so proud of Staal to warrant this level of return at his age. Good for him.

Yikes, you aren't kidding...

If it's a deadline move, they don't necessarily need to trade Hagelin since Pittsburgh could bank cap space during the season. And no way they give up a 1st AND a 2nd for a rental. More likely a conditional 1st and a 4th, similar to the Evander Kane deal.

Finally, I'm not sure Min will want to trade Staal, since they're likely going to be pushing for the playoffs (even if they're unlikely to make a deep run).

Why would I be kidding? In what universe is Eric Staal worth that as a deadline acquisition. If he got anything remotely close to that I would be shocked. So yeah, good for him.
