Posted mostly to see if there is any appetite for a Reilly to Oil trade. Figure they can flip him when Sekera comes back.

Doubt Edmonton does this, but Chiarelli has done worse things

If Bryon wasn’t injured I would have had him going over to the Oil in exchange for Lucic and a 2nd in 2020. Figure Bryon, Reilly and a 4th for Lucic, Bear and a 2nd would be good for both teams.

Byron Gets MTL more then a 2nd without taking Lucic's terrible contract

Maybe but the main goal is to score a top LD prospect.

Very interesting. Top marks for thinking outside the box and giving value to get value... personally I'd prefer the Oilers got an experienced RD, because Russell can (and should) be moved over to the left side, 3rd pairing.

Nicely done though.

Habs have been trying to offload Jordie Benn smile

And thanks!

Experienced RD would most likely cost a LOT more given the current market though.

Cost in terms of assets and in cap. Gotta minimize the cap hit in case Sekera comes back before the season’s done.

Not necessarily. Franson or Sproul could probably handle 3rd pairing minutes, both can be had for league minimum.

Also, older players on the last year of their contracts could be available for minimal asset outlay: Engelland, Prosser, Lovejoy and McQuaid come to mind.
