EDM Trade

Created by: sidsoul88
Team: 2018-19 Carolina Hurricanes
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 16, 2018

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
CAR needs a 1C - but Necas could be there in two years and Staal is fine for now. Necas though will need to work his way to the top so start him at 4C and let him get used to American ice and NHL play. He'll have Williams on his wing who is a great teacher and player to learn from.
Aho could also step in and looks like he'll get that chance. As of now though, the only C's for certain are Staal and Rask. Trade Faulk to EDM who desperately needs D for Strome and a high pick and that gives you 3 C's to work with while Necas, Wallmark, and maybe Roy all get used to the NHL.
Trades
CAR
  1. Strome, Ryan
  2. 2019 1st round pick (EDM)
  3. 2019 3rd round pick (NYI)
Additional Details:
EDM can choose to either give CAR their 2019 1st or 2020 if pick is top 10.

Based on the Skinner trade and the fact that Faulk is currently on their third line I think the Oilers can get him for less. Maybe Dmitri Samorukov,2nd and 3rd. That's something Carolina might do.

For meh d prospect that canes don't need and 2nd+3rd? Cmon. Skinner had 1 year left and full nmc that's way different situation compared to Faulk.

Having 3 top4 RD doesn't mean canes will hand u 1 for free.

Faulk has a MOD-NTC and most of the Western Conference teams are on it. He wants to stay in the east from what Carolina insiders are saying.

I hope that is true cause this oilers fan wants nothing to do with Faulk. He is just a PP specialist that can’t defend at all.

This.

Faulk is a 1/2 pairing D on a lot of teams. Canes aren't sending him off for free. I don't think the Skinner trade is fair comparison for him.

Faulk a 1/2? This is whats being said about Faulk

-Carolina has had some questionable goaltending over the years (save 2013 and 2015). If they just received average goaltending over this timeframe, they would have been about 75 goals better – and that’s substantial.

But Faulk’s numbers are even worse. Faulk’s on-ice save percentage is 90.7. That means that in the minutes Faulk has been on the ice, Carolina is 52 goals worse than league average and 27 goals worse than what Carolina could have reasonably expected with their goaltending talent.

About that 90.7 save percentage: It’s the worst number of any defender in the past six years, true by a considerable margin:

Doesnt sound like a 1/2 d man to me....
