Habs

Created by: EddieShack
Team: 2018-19 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 17, 2018
Published: Aug. 17, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Starting line-up in October. Not what I wish for but what I expect given management's conservative approach. Pacioretti is not traded, Simon Després makes it into the line-up (better than Benn, Ouellet and co). Schlemko becomes expendable (traded or bought out).
Trades will take place after Shaw, Byron and Weber start coming back into the line-up.
A solid checking line along with three lines that can contribute offensively if anyone on defense can get them the puck... Will be battling with the Sens for the last spot in their conference.

That's as realistic a take I have seen on this site... So many players have underperformed last year, putting them in last place is probably a bit pessimistic.

It was only 2 years ago Habs & Sens finished #1/2 in the Atlantic. How quickly they have fallen on hard times.
Not following them too closely, would attributing a primary factor to their demise poor drafting (Montreal) and poor locker room/team management (Ottawa) be a fair assessment for each?

Poor drafting, poor development, and poor team management as far as the Habs are concerned. For the Sens, the fish has been rotting from the head and it is difficult to see how they will turn this around fast. I think both teams' management over-evaluated themselves because of their results two years ago...

With the prolonged absence of Weber (and possibly the departure of Patches), still no bona fide no 1 centerman, many newcomers at defense, Price would need to be truly outstanding for them to make the playoffs.

I really don't like seeing Deslauriers in over guys like De La Rose. Deslaruiers had a decent year last year but I can see DLR being way more productive, faster and hes just overall a better player. I love Scherbak getting top 6 minutes and I like giving Peca a shot aswell, good job

Frankly I wished they gave DLR the role and the minutes they will give Plekanec. He did well after Pleky's departure last year. Putting him on the wings (instead of Deslauriers) is a bit of a waste.
