No matter how you look at it, those three big players are upcoming UFAs. That's a massive overpayment by Avs....and maybe even the Stars. Jets would love to move some cap in a trade.

I just went off reports for the Avs trade. Dallas does need to win now though and there are other teams in the market for Karlsson.

Duchene would probably be more of a rental for the Jets.

I love the idea of Stone to the Avs, he's a perfect fit there. Fixes the second line, really helps them get back immediately. Great for the fans and front office.
WPG trade is really fair value, but I feel like they'd prefer more of a passer at 2C. Not sure that's really an option, though. Also dunno how the cap works there.
I really don't think Dallas is a fit for EK, not when they have Klingberg. Having 2 guys of that caliber is IMO a bit inefficient, since they can't both be on the top pair. It might work, but what might make more sense is EK for Klingberg straight up. Dallas gets an upgrade, Ottawa gets a guy that they don't have to worry about having walk, which can potentially get them an even better return than EK could. At 25, they might even be able to get in a couple runs with him if they can fast-track the rebuild.

Jets probably would need retention on Duchene

I would quote BCarlo but CF won't let me.
Lights liked this.
