He was sent down, mainly because we have so many guys ready for the NHL who are waiver eligible, while Shumakov isn't. I'm sure he'll get NHL time this year, just not at the start of the season.

I think in the opener Orpik will start over Bowey, but Bowey should get more games than Orpik this season.

I think he'll be ready by the first game, but if not then Djoos would probably move up to play with Carlson and Bowey would play on the 3rd pairing with Orpik.
