Shaw.
Wins puck battles, goes into corners, will stand up for teammates, produces in a pinch, can play up and down the lineup, any F position. Fixed salary

Armia:
Speaks Finnish. Ain't done so far anything except watch Kotkaniemi go. RFA will want a raise next year.

Neither. Both are expendable and don't fit the fast skating new Habs.

Shaw does all those thing and yet is a 3.9M 4th liner. Unless he plays MINIMUM top 9 minutes he is a waste of money. I feel he no longer belongs on the this teams top 9.

Armia has very good hands and is a big frame but the speed he has below average. At his current price tag he is fine 3rd 4th liner but anything more is not worth it.

Hey I agree with you. I was just answering the question asked. You ain’t Captain Kirk and you can’t rewrite the rules to a no win scenario.

I think if I had to pick one it might be Shaw. I think he can contribute more. And it’s not like him being overpaid makes a difference. What’s scarce with the Habs ain’t cap space, it’s roster spots.

Fair assessment but then again, when you're not paying the bills, spending money is irrelevant to you. So as is, Shaw is barely scratching by to make this team while Armia who could very well be less talented or whatever is making the team and doing it for cheaper. Apply this to the "real" world. If you were Shaw, would you be nervous about keeping your job? I would. I get paid more money than a lot of people and they are doing a better job at the thing I'm needed to do.

So yes if Molson is ok with spending money inefficiently, than who cares. Keep him for the depth but the Habs can't even do that without someone else being lost to waivers so now not only is Shaw expensive and easily replaceable. We might lose a Scherbak as a result.

Is Shaw still worth it? Heck is Armia even still worth it? IMHO no. The only tie breaker for me is cap space and salary and Shaw is getting a lot more money to do not that much more than what Armia is doing.

I think it’s better than even odds neither one are with the team next year. Also I think if anyone should hit waivers it’s Alzner. If someone claims him, great. If not, well, what have we really lost?

Agreed. This team has too many forwards. Need to start packaging them for other positions of need. As for Alzner, that is going to be a tough sell unless they retain half his salary, which im fine with. The guy is simply no longer a viable player in this league unless paid 1M a year and is your 7th dman.

I'm hoping he can transition to a mentor role in Laval. A very well paid mentor, but we can't buy him out now and he'll be hard to trade, even at half retention.
