This is a pretty good team and I think NYR have the best shot at Panarin. That said, he's not worth more then $10M, he's a winger and one of the best but don't pay him like a center. Plus you need at least 21 players on the roster and that extra $1M in savings for Panarin can go to a role player.

I was just looking at base numbers. They can trade Smith, trade or buyout Staal, replace Namestnikov or Strome with Buch and all of those moves would easily give you the money for a 13th forward and 7th D. Especially if you add another ELC in Rykov.

Not sure where Buchnevich is?? Pionk will probably get more than that with the points he's putting up. Panarin is probably closer to 9-10. Hayes could probably be had for .5-1 mil cheaper. At this point the writing is basically on the wall that Staal will be bought out. Regardless, still a decent hockey team
