Nobody sees the Eberle Bergeron trade coming because Boston would never do it. Bergeron is one of the most valuable players in the NHL. Eberle is a great player but he is not Bergeron. Also, why trade Nugent-Hopkins (the one player who has the potential to become Bergeron 2.0) for 5 months of Shattenkirk. He is a free agent next summer so you may be trading him for a 2nd round pick on March 1st of next year, so basically you are renting Shattenkirk for 5 months at the price of Nuge and then ending up with a 2nd round pick for Nuge. Also, Eberle scores at a better, more consistent pace than Okposo, is younger and is $500,000 cheaper. There are a lot of question marks around Brodin. You're giving up a lot for a player who is seemingly in the doghouse on his team and is a small left hand D. I think the Oilers have their quota of left D covered and then some. Plus, I think Chiarelli wants his D to be bigger and tougher while providing skill.
