Who else would go 1? Jack Hughes is far beyond the other prospects in this draft. No other player is worthy of the first pick. You can't draft by position in the NHL, always take best available, especially in the first round.

Kakko is superior to Hughes in everything. He, for one, is playing in Liiga, meaning he will be NHL ready, something Hughes will not be, USHL was not the best route to go imo. Second, Kakko is just plain better than Hughes. He's basically a more complete Laine with a slightly weaker shot. Lastly, Kakko can play C so picking by position wouldn't be an argument.

True that L.A. is in dire need of house cleaning..
But NO WAY they sign Koskinen, ED's new starter, now&next season..
Maybe Talbot&Pulijarvi 4 Campbell&Toffoli..

The league you play in does not guarantee NHL readiness. Kakko is a good player and should be 2 but Highes is the number 1. He is a natural center. It is much easier to move a natural center to the wing than moving a natural wing to center. Hughes plays a more dynamic game than Kakko. Also, I havent seen a single analyst or expert say anybody but Hughes is the number one in this draft.

Understandable about Koskinen. Just an idea. I'm not a Kings fan this is just an idea I had looking at it without a bias. I know Edmonton still like Talbot which is the only reason I think theres a chance Koskinen heads to FA. That trade is a solid idea I agree Puljujarvi needs a change of scenery but it all depends on how Edmonton values him.

Don’t be surprised if Hughes falls to 3-5 range. I repeat. USHL is not a men’s league. He will not be ready to play in the nhl first year. Kakko will. Liiga is a men’s league.
